Purchase Manager

As Purchase Manager (M/W/D) at our Weilerswist location, you will lead and develop a dedicated purchasing team while driving the implementation of strategic procurement initiatives. In this key position, you’ll play a vital role in ensuring product availability across our local and international markets, developing supplier partnerships, and optimizing cooperation with logistics and sales. Reporting directly to the CEO and CPO, you’ll contribute significantly to the Arcus Group’s growth and operational excellence.

A strategic and hands-on purchasing professional with strong leadership skills and a passion for optimizing processes. You thrive in dynamic trading environments, enjoy building lasting supplier relationships, and are driven by achieving measurable results. With your analytical mindset and collaborative approach, you ensure the perfect balance between quality, cost, and availability, always keeping the company’s goals in focus.

You have:

  • Completed vocational training in the commercial sector / a comparable qualification / comparable knowledge and experience acquired in practice;

  • Several years of experience in an operational trading company in purchasing, preferably in the area of stainless steel and carbon steel (pipes and pipe connections);

  • Analytical skills, key figure and solution-orientated approach;

  • Communication and teamwork skills with an eye for the essentials;

  • Business fluent in German (written and spoken);

  • Very good knowledge of English (written and spoken);

  • Strong MS Office skills, especially Excel.

Your main responsibilities:

  • Lead, develop, and motivate the local purchasing team;

  • Implement purchasing strategies in line with executive management directives;

  • Ensure optimal product availability at competitive conditions for local and international markets;

  • Evaluate supplier performance and quality, maintaining strong, long-term partnerships;

  • Maintain close communication with sales departments across all markets;

  • Manage stock levels in cooperation with the Chief Purchasing Officer (CPO);

  • Optimize collaboration with logistics on packaging and inbound processes;

  • Negotiate terms and conditions with key suppliers

  • Handle and manage supplier NCR’s in consultation with the CPO
